ABOUT BORREGO SPRINGS

Borrego Springs is 780' above sea level and located approximately 80 miles northeast of San Diego and 60 miles south of Palm Springs; California.  Situated in the Sonoran Desert, Borrego is surrounded by the 600,000 acre Anza-Borrego State Park.
Borrego means Big Sheep and there are plenty to be found in the nearby mountains.  Hiking up to Palm Canyon is a past-time enjoyed by locals and visitors.
It's hard to explain the joy of desert living, the beauty and stillness that refreshes one's soul -- the ever-changing desert landscape.  Fall wildflowers bloom in the valley and canyons and are breath-taking.  The Ocotillo and cactus come later in the Spring and will continue through June.  The peak blooming season is from late February until April.  Some years, the desert is covered with multi-colored blooming shrubs, cactus and trees.
Unforgettable are the night skies with stars so close you feel that you can just reach up and touch them.
And, of course, the dry desert climate with an average yearly temperature range high of 87° and low of 58° attracts visitors and retirees to the Borrego Springs area.
Borrego Springs is fast-becoming an artists colony, a haven for creative expression.

City of Borrego Springs

Borrego Springs is quite picturesque with all the charm of a small
city.  Everything is conveniently located to the downtown area.
There are two banks, two grocery stores, a library and medical
center and a wonderful mall with some small, unique shops offering
a variety of art, clothing, home furnishings and unusual crafts and
jewelry.  You are sure to find treasures you simply cannot live
without.  The Borrego Circle is a focal point for many important
activities such as the Circle of Art, the Grapefruit Festival and the
Cinco de Mayo celebration.  Every Friday, the Chamber of
     Commerce sponsors a Farmer's Market.
